Statement of Faith:

As a family of Faith, we are created and called by God, inspired and guided by Christ, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, we are living expressions of God’s love to each other, our community, and the world.

We believe in joyfully celebrating God’s grace through relevant worship in the Reformed tradition. Then through Bible-based programs for all ages, we educate and nurture Christian discipleship for witness and service. We follow Christ’s example in charity and in promoting justice and peace for all.

We believe we are called to be a welcoming spiritual home that freely provides support and fellowship to all. Hence, we strive to exemplify the gospel of Christ through evangelism and outreach programs.

We rejoice in God’s calling, as well as the invitation to all people to join us in love as we embrace the challenge and privilege of bearing Christ’s name.

Mission:

We are called, as followers of Jesus Christ, to be an extension of God’s hands, helping and nurturing all of God’s people. We worship together as brothers and sisters of the First Presbyterian Church, joined by the Word of Jesus and the limitless love of God.

We worship God, as a congregation, promoting love and understanding to all people, confirming their commitment to Jesus. We strive to provide a safe haven for our children to grow in the light of the Lord, following God’s way along the path. We work to provide a stable financial base for our church to continue to serve its congregation and our community, helping them in the way of Jesus. We continue to worship our Father, using God’s Word to define our lives as a family, a congregation and in the community. May the Lord continue to bless us in our endeavors.

Purpose:

The congregation of the First Presbyterian Church of Van Wert serves as a non-profit religious entity dedicated to the conduct of worship, the proclamation and adherence to the Christian gospel, the furtherance of the Great Commision, and the witness of God’s love through his son, Jesus Christ and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
